Captain Jack's Log : 3 almost 4

Jack has discovered the excitement of birthdays. After attending several parties for cousins and grandparents, finally it was his day. Leading up to his birthday Jack continued to tell me he wanted a backhoe cake again.

Heath : "How old will you be on your birthday Jack?"
Jack: "...A BACKHOE ONE!!!!"

Eventually he understood he was turning three and has been obsessed with knowing how old people are.

After changing his mind just about every day, we finally sat together on pintrest to make a final decision. I'm sad to say, I got my three year old addicted to pintrest (at least boy bday cake searches). I thought it would only take a few minutes, but we looked for at least an hour. Finally he decided. A number 3 Lightning McQueen and Mater cake.

We had a combined party with Tessa, since their birthdays are two days apart. Jack was beyond excited for it, loved all the attention, and having most of his cousins there.

Brock has turned into a candy scavenger and thief...

Jack with his "best girl" Emily on his right and his "best boy" Jarom on his left. What a lucky kid to have so many fun cousins!

Since Jack turned 3 on his first birthday party, naturally when you have a second birthday party with your buddy Kason, you think you are turning 4!

"At my party with Tessa I'm 3! Now this party I'm 4!!!"

I'm so grateful Jack has some awesome kiddos as friends. He loves all his friends, so it was fun to see him get so excited when they each arrived.

Lennon and Dylan

Demi

Kelsey

Alvin

and of course Kason!
These two adore each other. Its rare for them to fight or not get along when they have play dates.

Jackie boy is developing quite the sense of humor, a bossy attitude, and continues get excited about all that life has to offer. He can get dressed by himself, only likes to wear basketball shorts, is learning how to make his bed, can ride his new balance bike too fast and down our drive way, helps Brock say prayers, and continues to be a picky eater. He refuses to eat anything but cheese, crackers, apples, peaches, pears, yogurt, cereal, toast, broccoli (on a good day), peas, green beans from Sam's garden next door, and almonds. This picky eater doesn't look like he is picky or that he doesn't each much.  Jack is growing and growing. His calves are bigger than his dad's, he weighs 34lbs, and is 36 inches tall. At his 3 year old dr appointment, his Dr, said she doesn't want him to put much more weight on. I had to laugh because this kid is as solid and thick as they come. I'm not worried about having too much fat one bit. He's all muscle, with a little gut.

Common Jack Phrases:
"That. Is. So.....Awesome/Cool/Amazing!"
"I need 3 of (whatever snack we're having) because I'm 3"
"Mommy! You came back!"
"Brock, I said NO!"
"This place is fancy" (while we were eating at Little America)
"Brockie boy, you rascal"
"Soon, I gonna be 4!"
"Hey, where's my guys?"
(his guys are lightning mcqueen and whatever other car is his current favorite)
